What they are and where you meet them
On roads with strong "commuter" flows — bridges, tunnels, urban avenues, approaches to toll gates or stadiums — one or more central lanes are assigned now to one direction, now to the other: towards the centre in the morning, outbound in the evening. The road marking of a reversible lane is distinctive: it is bounded by double broken white lines on both sides. The marking alone, however, never tells you whether you may use it — the answer is always above your head, in the lane signals.
