Officials and technical vehicle inspections

Technical inspections on vehicles, as required by the Highway Code, cannot be carried out by just anyone. They must be performed by qualified personnel belonging to the Department for Land Transport of the Ministry of Transport. These are officials and managers with specific technical expertise, ensuring that vehicle inspections are reliable and compliant with regulations.

To perform these inspections, certain educational qualifications are required. Officials must have an appropriate technical background, such as a degree in engineering or architecture, or a technical diploma (for example, industrial technician, nautical technician, surveyor, or scientific high school diploma). This requirement is essential because vehicle inspections require in-depth technical knowledge.

Not all technicians can start performing inspections immediately. Those with a technical diploma must first attend a specific training course and pass a final exam. Only after obtaining this qualification can they carry out technical inspections on vehicles. The structure and requirements of the course are defined by a decree of the Minister of Transport.

The regulations also define which professional profiles are authorized to carry out these activities. This ensures that only suitably qualified personnel can verify the safety and compliance of vehicles.

For the theory exam, it is important to remember that technical vehicle inspections are not carried out by ordinary workshops or unqualified individuals, but by trained and authorized officials of the Ministry of Transport. This system ensures that all checks are performed with competence, accuracy, and impartiality.
