Taking part in speed races with motor vehicles on public roads is prohibited, even when the competition is not formally organized. Even an informal race or challenge between drivers on a public road is considered a serious offense and is treated as a criminal act.
Anyone who participates in such illegal races is punished with imprisonment and a significant fine. It is not necessary for the race to be officially organized; simply racing at speed with other vehicles is enough to constitute the offense.
The consequences become much more severe if accidents occur during these races. If the race results in the death of one or more people, the penalties increase substantially. In cases of personal injury, the sanctions also include serious prison sentences.
In addition to the main penalties, there are consequences for the driving license. The license is suspended for a significant period, and if the race causes serious injury or death, it is permanently revoked.
Furthermore, the vehicles used in the race are confiscated, meaning they are permanently seized from the participants, unless they belong to someone not involved in the offense.
