Animal-drawn vehicles and sledges must be equipped with an effective braking system capable of ensuring control of the vehicle in all situations. The braking device must be designed and positioned so that it can be operated easily and quickly by the driver at any time, including in emergency situations.
This means that the driver must be able to slow down or stop the vehicle without difficulty, always ensuring safety for themselves and other road users. Even though these are non-motorized vehicles, safety requirements remain essential.
It is strictly forbidden to use braking systems that act directly on the road surface. This rule exists to prevent damage to the road and to avoid dangerous situations, such as loss of control or ineffective braking.
Anyone who violates these rules is subject to an administrative fine. For the theory exam, it is important to remember that even animal-drawn vehicles must have efficient and easily usable brakes, and that systems acting directly on the road surface are not allowed.
