Standardization of road signs and approvals

Road signage must be uniform across the entire territory and comply with legal and regulatory standards. This ensures that all drivers can immediately recognize and understand road signs without confusion.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has the authority to intervene when signage is incorrect, missing, or misleading. It can order responsible authorities, such as municipalities or road operators, to replace, correct, move, or remove non-compliant signs within a set deadline. If they fail to act, the Ministry can carry out the work directly and charge the costs to those responsible.

Signs indicating services, such as fuel stations or facilities, must also comply with regulations. If they are damaged, outdated, or confusing, they must be promptly corrected or removed. Otherwise, the road authority will take action and recover the costs from the responsible party.

All devices used for traffic regulation and control, including those for detecting violations automatically, must be approved or certified by the Ministry. This means they must meet strict technical and functional requirements and undergo regular checks to ensure accuracy and proper operation.

The production of road signs is allowed only for authorized companies that meet technical and equipment requirements. It is forbidden to manufacture, sell, or use non-approved signs or devices, and such violations result in serious penalties and confiscation.

It is also prohibited to use devices that detect or signal the presence of speed enforcement systems. These are illegal because they allow drivers to avoid controls and reduce road safety.

For the theory exam, it is important to understand that all road signage must be standardized, approved, and clearly recognizable, and that any non-compliant use is a violation of the law.
