When a vehicle breaks down and must be towed in an emergency situation, the connection between the towing vehicle and the towed vehicle must be strong and secure. It is essential that the towing system is properly signaled to avoid risks.
During towing, the towed vehicle must indicate its presence by using hazard warning lights. If these are not available or not working, a visible signal such as a reflective panel or warning triangle must be displayed so that other drivers can clearly see the situation.
The towing vehicle, if equipped, must activate the yellow warning light typically used by roadside assistance vehicles.
These rules ensure that towing operations are carried out safely and are clearly visible to other road users. Failure to comply results in an administrative fine.
