The load on a vehicle must be properly arranged to ensure road safety. It must be secured in a way that prevents it from falling or dispersing during the journey. It must not reduce the driver’s visibility or restrict their freedom of movement while driving. It is also essential that the load does not compromise the stability of the vehicle or cover lights, signals, license plates, or hand signals.
The load must not exceed legal size limits. It is never allowed to protrude from the front of the vehicle. It may protrude from the rear only if it consists of indivisible items, and only up to a maximum of 30% of the vehicle’s length. In special cases, such as buses, limited front protrusion is allowed for specific structures like bicycle racks.
Regarding width, the load may extend sideways, but only within strict limits: no more than 30 cm beyond the position lights. Certain items, such as poles or panels, are not allowed to protrude laterally if they are difficult to see.
It is forbidden to transport items that drag on the ground, even partially. Similarly, movable accessories must not extend beyond the vehicle’s outline during motion.
If the load protrudes from the rear, it must be clearly marked with reflective panels placed at the ends of the protrusion to ensure visibility.
If the load is not properly secured, the vehicle cannot continue its journey. Authorities may temporarily withdraw the driver’s license and registration documents until the issue is corrected. An administrative fine is also imposed.
