When a vehicle stops on the roadway outside built-up areas, it must be clearly signaled to prevent accidents. This is especially important at night when rear lights are not working, but also during the day if the vehicle cannot be seen from a sufficient distance by approaching drivers.
The warning is given using a warning triangle, which all vehicles (except bicycles, two-wheeled mopeds, and motorcycles) must carry. The triangle must be placed at an appropriate distance from the vehicle, as defined by regulations, so that other drivers can notice the hazard in time.
The triangle is reflective, triangular in shape, and equipped with a support to keep it upright and visible. It must comply with approved standards.
If the triangle is not available, the driver must still warn other road users effectively using alternative means.
While placing the warning sign, the driver must also ensure personal safety by wearing a high-visibility reflective vest or suspenders before leaving the vehicle. This rule applies even when the vehicle is on an emergency lane or stopping area.
Failure to follow these rules results in an administrative fine.
