Agricultural machines used on public roads must always match the characteristics indicated in their official documents, such as the registration certificate or technical suitability certificate. This means that they cannot be modified in a way that differs from what is officially recorded, and they must not have missing, altered, or damaged required devices. All legally required components must be present and functioning, as they are essential for safety.
If the owner decides to modify an agricultural machine, for example by changing technical features or equipment listed in the documents, a new inspection is mandatory. The machine must undergo a technical check by the competent authorities. Only after passing this inspection can the updated information be officially recorded in the documents. Without this update, the machine is considered non-compliant.
Agricultural machines subject to registration must also follow the general rules applied to other vehicles, including those related to registration, ownership transfer, and administrative obligations.
Driving a machine that does not match its official specifications, or that has missing, altered, or non-functioning required devices, results in an administrative fine. In addition to the fine, the registration document may be withdrawn until the situation is corrected. This highlights that any modification must be officially approved and recorded to ensure safety and legality.
