Outside built-up areas, road curves require clear spaces along the sides of the road to ensure proper visibility and improve safety. This space, known as the safety zone, must remain completely free of any obstacles.
On the inside of the curve, it is forbidden to build structures, install fences, plant trees or hedges, or place any materials. Anything that could reduce a driverβs visibility or interfere with their ability to see the road must be avoided. The sharper the curve, the more important it is to keep this area clear, since visibility is naturally reduced.
On the outside of the curve, the same rules apply as for straight road sections. Safety distances must be respected according to the regulations to prevent dangerous situations.
Anyone who violates these rules is subject to a significant administrative fine. In addition, they must remove any unauthorized constructions or obstacles and restore the original condition at their own expense.
